Privacy of Personal Information Policy
Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham makes every reasonable effort to ensure that personal information is accurate and complete. BBBSND relies on individuals to notify the agency if there is a change to personal information that may affect their relationship with Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham. Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham protects personal information in a manner appropriate for the sensitivity of the information.
BBBSND makes every reasonable effort to prevent any loss, misuse, disclosure or modification of personal information, as well as any unauthorized access to personal information.
Other organizations, companies and individuals authorized by the agency to collect and maintain personal information that relates to individuals and employees, including compensation, medical information, benefit information etc. are required to similarly maintain these records in a confidential and secure manner.
Personal information will only be released to outside parties in accordance with policies of the agency and other legal requirements.
A privacy statement is posted in the BBBSND office in public view. All letters and forms collecting personal information contain a privacy statement, and a contact in case the individual has any questions regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.
In the event that in the future the agency should carry out commercial activities (e.g. buying, selling, renting lists of personal information), the agency will undertake a review of whether the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act applies.
You are entitled to know whether we hold personal information about you; see that information; and ensure it is accurate.
