One To One Mentoring

Virtual Mentoring

Virtual Mentorship

This virtual program runs one hour per week and connects young people in grades 1-8 with one-on-one mentorship opportunities.

Highly flexible and adaptable, this individual mentoring program offers a positive role model and trusted friend with whom mentees can share their life’s experiences. We promote social and emotional skills development through coaching, conversation, and fun games and activities. Self-reflection and communication encourage social connectedness, coping and self-confidence.

Available days, evenings and weekends throughout the school/calendar year.  Subject to mentor availability.

For registration information, please contact becky.mathieu@bigbrothersbigsisters.ca.

Virtual Group Mentorship

This virtual group program is open to all young people aged 9-12. The single, most important goal of the program is to strengthen positive self-image. Virtual group mentorship builds on the success of our national Go Girls and Game On programs. Large and small group chatrooms offer positive social and emotional development opportunities through discussion, physical activity, and healthy eating – setting our young people on a path to reach their full potential. The program runs for one hour and is available up to twice per week for seven weeks.

Available days and evenings throughout the school year.   Subject to mentor availability.

For registration information, please contact Becky.mathieu@bigbrothersbigsisters.ca.

Think, Feel, ACT!

Think, Feel, ACT! is a structured mentoring program, mainly delivered by placement students, that strengthens the social and emotional skills of young people ages 9-12. It equips caregivers with the resources needed to help their children achieve healthy relationship and education related goals. Young people who face adversities, including anxiety and mental health challenges, family violence, identity issues or poor living conditions, learn to view the world more positively and realistically, to more effectively assert themselves and self-advocate, and to utilize anxiety, stress and anger management strategies to better regulate themselves during periods of challenge and crisis.

The Think, Feel, ACT! mentoring program offers enhanced mentor training and requires a weekly school visit of one hour each week for a 10 – 12 week period. Ideally, trained mentors commit to offering more than one program.  Community volunteers interested in delivering this program should contact our office.
